The initial veterinary behaviour consultation takes 2.5 hours. During this consultation we will discuss your pet’s behavioural history, the diagnosis and put together a treatment plan.

What to Expect

You will see Dr Trepheena Hunter or Dr Emma Rigby for your initial veterinary behaviour consultation. Before your appointment, we ask that you complete a behaviour questionnaire.

The initial consultation takes 2.5 hours. During this consultation we will discuss your pet’s behavioural history, the diagnosis and put together a treatment plan.

After the consultation, we will send a summary of your treatment plan and provide some follow up support for the first 8-10 weeks.

One to two weeks after your initial appointment with a behaviour veterinarian, our behaviour trainer will see you for a 45 minute session. Together you will review management strategies and life skills training to help your pet’s behaviour problem. We use force-free, marker-based training.

Your first revisit appointment will be with both your behaviour veterinarian and trainer. This appointment is 8-10 weeks after the first consultation. The appointment takes 1.5 hours during which time we review progress and build on the treatment plan.

Depending on the nature of your pet’s behaviour problem, continued behaviour modification training may be recommended.
